Archive Project

Help Us Celebrate and Preserve Our School’s Rich History!

Dulwich Hamlet has been at the heart of our community since 1884. Over the past 130 years, we have educated thousands of children, and in doing so, we have built a remarkable archive of school life, filled with stories, artefacts, and memories.

From wartime evacuation documents and vintage uniforms to event programmes, school magazines, and beautifully embroidered Victorian samplers, our collection offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. Now, we want to share this incredible history with a wider audience—but we need your help.

Our Archive vision

While we didn’t receive a National Lottery Heritage grant, this has only strengthened our determination to bring this project to life—with the incredible support of our community, past and present.

To make this vision a reality, we’ve launched a JustGiving campaign to raise £5,000 to fund the three key phases of this project:

What this will look like

Phase 1: The Archive Wall

We will showcase key images, documents, and artefacts alongside personal memories on 10 beautifully designed panels, creating an Archive Wall in Turney Playground at the heart of the school.

Phase 2: Preserving and Sharing Our Archive

We will carefully catalogue and store our collection using archival materials to protect it for future generations. This will allow our pupils to explore their school’s history through authentic learning experiences.

Phase 3: The Digital Archive

We will digitise key items, making our archive accessible to past pupils, families, and the wider community—wherever they may be.

How You Can Help

We would love your support to bring this project to life!

As we complete Phase 2, we look forward to welcoming past and present pupils, families, friends, and staff to an Archive Gala Event, where we will celebrate our shared history together.

Thank you for your support—we can’t wait to bring our school’s story to life!
