Parental Engagement: A Partnership in Learning

A Community

where

parents

belong

When your child joins Dulwich Hamlet, you also become part of our Hamlet family.

We encourage all parents to stay involved in their child's learning journey. Regular parent-teacher meetings provide opportunities to discuss progress, while open classroom events showcase children’s work.

Our Hamlet Herald newsletter keeps you updated on school life each week. We also host Parent & Carer Café mornings, where you can connect with staff and other families to discuss topics related to your child’s education and well-being.

Working Together as a Community

At Dulwich Hamlet, we are blessed with incredible parents and carers who do so much to support the school and help the children deepen their learning. There are lots of ways that parents and carers can be involved with the school – and we value and appreciate them all! We know from our experience, and from evidence and research, that the more involved parents are, the more children learn and the happier they are.

One way to get involved is by supporting and coordinating other parents and carers:

  • Being on the PTA
  • Acting as a class rep on a WhatsApp group
  • Answering questions from other parents
  • Organising an event or activity
  • Helping to welcome new parents

Bringing Skills and Voices into School

Being involved at DHJS takes many forms. You can contribute by sharing your interests and expertise:

  • Talking to the children about your job or hobbies
  • Taking part in school activities related to careers or topics
  • Leading an assembly or workshop
  • Connecting the school to the wider community (e.g. a local business or charity)

You can also support through communication:

  • Attending parent-teacher meetings
  • Asking questions and sharing feedback
  • Celebrating children’s achievements outside school
  • Letting us know about life events that affect your child
  • Responding to surveys and sharing your views
