Music Ensembles & Choirs

An opportunity to progress together

Children are all welcome to participate in choir and many are invited to join ensembles when they are ready.

Choir and instrumental ensembles have a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year, including domestic and local concerts alongside other local schools like Young Voices as well a number of highly regarded festivals and competitions like the Mayor's Totally Thames Festival and the Primary Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

Children learning within school will be invited to join our ensembles when their tutor feels they have reached an appropriate standard but we are also aware that many of our children receive music tuition out of school and may wish to be involved in school through joining one of our ensembles. Each ensemble meets on a weekly basis, before or after school or during lunchtimes, and if a child joins, it is expected that they commit to attending these rehearsal times and associated performances until the end of the year. If you would like more information about your child joining an ensemble, please contact the school office for more information.

Children have the opportunity to join a steel pan ensemble in Y4-6. In Year 4 they can be part of a one-term taster group and in Y5-6 they commit to a group either after school or rotating between lunchtime and afternoon lessons on a Wednesday. This is the only ensemble that we charge for. To put your child on the waiting list for this, please fill in this form and return to the school office. We also have a parents and carers group! Please contact the office for more information on this.
