Cultural Diversity Day 2026
We were so proud of the engagement of families to celebrate the wonderfully diverse heritage and culture of our community.
All children came dressed in their own clothes and some even wore cultural dress.
We were lucky to welcome Sharon Wardle former UK Ambassador and High Commissioner who has worked across the world championing international collaboration and talked about the role and some of the key elements of culture which draw us together such as food, music and sport.
Then all classes had the opportunity to complete a special piece of art which challenged them to think about their identity.
In the afternoon, we had a special celebration assembly where a sample of children spoke about their heritage and what it meant to them, whilst Ms Campbell managed to write a song containing the names of all the countries listed by our Hamleteers (take a deep breath): England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Jamaica, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Bolivia, Italy, Uruguay, Denmark, Australia, Morocco, Singapore, Somalia, Lebanon, Ghana, China, Bulgaria, Sweden, Canada, Croatia, Greece, Vietnam, Portugal, Spain, Chile, Dominican Republic, Basque, Malaysia, France, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, USA, Sri Lanka, Japan, Brazil, Switzerland, Poland, Zambia, Hong Kong, Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia, Algeria, Turkey, Mexico, Russia, Albania, Rwanda, Cuba, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Philippines, Pakistan, St Lucia, Sierra Leone, India, Columbia, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Barbados, Eritrea, Uganda, Norway, Argentina, Angola, Bangladesh, Turkish Cypriot, Saudi Arabia, Holland, Guyana, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Malta, Slovenia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Belgium, Thailand, Mongolia, Hawaii, Armenia. (Did you manage it?)
Then finally we held a parade using flags of the Hamlet community and our talented Y6 Samba group before parents came together over food and drink in Village playground.
A thank you also to Ms Obregon and Ms Cascoe for their extra work to inspire the event and for putting together the combined Hamlet Flag and display.
Thank you for all your effort to support this event.
